“If you want to be successful in a particular field of endeavour, I think perseverance is one of the key qualities. It’s very important that you find something that you care about, that you have a deep passion for, because you’re going to have to devote a lot of your life to it.”
- George Lucas

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit."
- Aristotle

"Fine Dentistry is a work of love. We didn’t launch into this project just with the idea of making money."
- Dr. Ian Boyd

"Your mouth is the ultimate accessory."
- Dr. Ian Boyd

"Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution. It represents the wise choice of many alternatives."
- William A. Foster

If you think you can or cannot . . .you are probably right.

“We have the ability to change people’s lives. Their eyes and smiles are two of the most important aspects of their appearance.”
- Anonymous

Through years of helping people improve their smiles, Dr. Boyd has developed a good understanding of the importance of a great smile and how people feel when the smile is less than ideal.

Precision care and attention to detail take time."

“These days, most dentist’s chairs go up and down, don’t they? The one I was in went back and forwards. I thought, “This is unusual”. And then the dentist said to me “OK Mr. Vine – time to get out of the filing cabinet”.
- Tim Vine

“Be true to your teeth and they won’t be false to you.”

Sedation Dentistry

Sedation pillowAre dental fears keeping you from having a healthy mouth?

Are you afraid of going to the dentist?

Has it been a long time since your last dental appointment due to fear?

Do you have pain or broken teeth that you know should be dealt with but just can't bring yourself to act?

Are you immune to traditional methods of numbing techniques?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions then conscious oral sedation may be for you.

Who Benefits from Conscious Sedation?

Sedation medication

  • Anyone who has fear and anxiety about dental treatment of any kind.
  • Anyone who has put off dental care for years because of dental anxieties.
  • Anyone who wants to have all their dental care completed in one or two visits.
  • Anyone who wants to be treated in a relaxed, caring, and comfortable environment.

What To Expect

Once you arrive and are comfortably seated, we will provide you with an oral sedative.  This pill is crushed into a fine powder and then placed beneath your tongue where it is absorbed quickly.  In less than an hour you will be deeply relaxed and snoozing like a baby.  Once you are ready to proceed (and never before) we will begin treatment.  We never begin work until you are completely ready.  Treatment then proceeds while you sleep.  You'll be sedated just enough to be unaware of the treatment, as if you were asleep.  We can perform a wide range of dental procedures in a single visit.

Treatment Completion

Upon completion of your dental treatment under conscious sedation, you will feel relaxed with little or no memory of the procedure.  We will have been in contact with your companion and informed them of the pick-up time.

True Courage

I've said it before and I'll say it again:  There are a great many people who are genuinely afraid of dental treatment.  That fear originates from a variety of sources - everyone has their own unique set of circumstances.  I have absolutely never encountered more courageous individuals than those who find a way to overcome those deep-seated fears and come in to the dental office for the treatment they truly need.

Ladies and gentlemen - that is real courage.

We have helped many individuals with their struggle to find a way to restore health and comfort in their mouths.  Without exception, dental phobic patients feel a great sense of accomplishment and relief following treatment.  They come away feeling proud of themselves for what they have accomplished.
